I love this time of year in the garden – everything is green: my first thought on going out to the hens this morning was that these are truly ‘verdant pastures’ :D

Of course it means I have to cut the grass … but the hens love the cuttings (though they’d rather forage it for themselves)!

The ‘back bank’ can be quite ugly at certain times of the year, but just now it’s dense with different shades and textures of green

Elsewhere there are hints of colour … including the dandelion and the creeping buttercup you can see in the grass!

The lilac has to be one of my all time favourite scents – and this one is the deepest colour

Even the rhubarb is looking lustrous!

And the chives are putting on quite a show – already about to flower, too

DH is extremely proud of ‘his’ primroses … he thought the hens had destroyed them when they ate all the leaves last autumn, but they are hardy little plants and look better than ever!

Best of all is the blossom, and this year it’s excelled itself …Posted Image
