One of our favourite places to see birds, especially waders, is at Bowling Green Marsh in Topsham. The village and approaches to the marsh were badly affected by the recent storms, but the marsh itself is still as idyllic as ever.


There were a number of heron in evidence …


We saw six in all. Didn’t manage a decent photo of them in flight (nor the swans), but they were a joy to watch.


Several Little Egrets were also present, otherwise nothing unusual, but it was lovely to see a flock of about 100 Black-tailed Godwit fly in as the tide rose.
