You may think the summer has hardly started, but for the first time since the girls went to school, we are no longer limited to holidays during school breaks 🙂

We went north to collect DD1 from Uni, and had hoped to combine our trip with a day at the Tour de France. That didn’t work out, but we still picked up the anticipation and the atmosphere almost everywhere we went …

Our location was fantastic … deep in the heart of the countryside, so much wildlife and bird life, and the views went on forever. We didn’t see the badgers, though we spent a long evening in the hide … but it didn’t matter, it was a fun evening anyway (even if some of us had more patience than others … ).

We covered a lot of miles, visiting DD1’s church in one direction and relatives in the other. We walked (some further than the others) and took hundreds of photographs (this is really only a small selection!). We didn’t buy much … but I couldn’t leave without buying some wool from the farm, spun from the amazing Teeswater fleece.

And sport was everywhere … not only the Tour, but Wimbledon and the World Cup too. Perfect!
